Time-dependent transformation in zirconia-based ceramics

摘要

The behavior of zirconia-based ceramics was studied before and after unloading in a shape memory cycle in order to improve the shape memory effect (SME). The specimen was tested under uniaxial compression with a loading speed of 0.08 mm/min and aged at room temperature for 90 h. Scanning electron microscopy was used to study the mean grain size of the specimen. Experimental results showed an increase in the length of the specimen with an increase in aging time. Critical stress inducing martensitic transformation resulted in plastic deformation of the specimen.
