Structure and characterization of a mixed valent iron molybdophosphate: (NH3CH2CH2NH3)8(H 3O)1.3Fe0.3IIFe0.7 IIIMo12O32(HPO4)2 (H 2PO4)6(OH)6·8.7H2O

摘要

A new iron molybdophosphate, (NH3CH2CH 2NH3)8(H3O)1.3Fe 0.3IIFe0.7IIMo12O 32-(HPO4)2(H2PO4) 6(OH)6·8.7H2O (1) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffractions. It crystallizes in the monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n, a = 15.845(7) Å, b = 15.867(7) Å, c = 17.132(8) Å, β = 92.794(5)°, Z = 2. The crystal structure of 1 contains the isolated polyanion units [FeMo12O32(HPO4) 2(H2PO4)6(OH)6] around which the portonated ethylenediamine ions, lattice water and the protonated water molecules are positioned. By hydrogen bond interactions the polyanions are interconnected to form a novel three-dimensional iron molybdophosphate. The Mössbauer spectra quantitatively ascertain the assignment and distribution of iron oxidation states, and reveal the properties of the magnetic structure. Other characterization by IR and thermal analysis are also described.
