摘要

A combination of field surveys, remote sensing and sedimentological analysis of hydrodynamics and sediment transport is used to assess changes of siltation in the North Passage consequent to the construction of deep water navigation channel (DNWC). The vertical section distribution of suspended sediment concentration (SSC), salinity and current velocity are discussed, around peak flood tide and peak ebb tide. Sediment resuspension and exchange between the tidalflat and the main navigation channel maybe the major mechanism in maintaining accumulated deposition. Current activity is the principle determinant of siltation in the main navigation channel.
