Rheological properties of reactive microgels solution

摘要

To apply the rheological properties of reactive microgels solution in practical application, reactive microgels with epoxy or carboxyl groups were synthesized by self-stabilized dispersion polymerization. The rheological properties in different solvents of the reactive microgel were studied respectively. The results show that with a given relative molecular mass, the intrinsic viscosity of the reactive microgel is much lower than that of linear polymers, and the viscosity of the microgel depends much less on the relative molecular mass of the polymer. With the increase of the crosslinking degree of the reactive microgel, the intrinsic viscosity decreases. In xylene, the liquid type changes from Newtonian liquid to Non-Newtonian liquid and pseudoplastic increases by increasing the reactive microgels mass fraction. No significant difference was observed on the intrinsic viscosity measures of dilute reactive microgel solutions in toluene, in styrene, or in isobornyl methacrylate (IBOMA). However, the solvent and the functionality of carboxyl or epoxy have relatively higher influence on the rheological properties of concentrated reactive microgels solutions.
