摘要

With the rapid development of web services, the impacts of information and communication technologies (ICTs) on activity–travel behavior have attracted extensive attention in many disciplines, including urban studies, geography, and transportation. China has the largest number of internet users in the world and has become one of the fastest-growing information consumption markets. It is therefore necessary to focus more on how ICTs change people's daily activities and travel in China. However, research on the relationships between ICTs and activity–travel behavior in China lags behind Western countries, and there is an urgent need to understand these issues. This chapter reviews important progress and key themes in the study of the relationships between ICTs and changes in activity–travel behavior in urban China. It suggests that three important issues should receive more attention in the future: ICTs and sustainable mobility, ICTs and their social impacts, and ICTs and intercity travel.
