摘要

Concentrations of particulate heavy metals and nutrient elements from seven large Chinese rivers were examined. Data of this study indicated that riverine heavy metal levels have close correlations with rock/soil compositions over the drainage basins. Pollution from point sources remains a local problem in most of the large Chinese rivers. Elevated nutrient element values in these river systems are attributed to extensive agricultural and domestic activities over the watersheds, however.
