摘要
The rivers in the cryospheric area receive different proportions of meltwater runoff, which is closely linked to changes in air temperature. As a result, the characteristics and inter-annual variability of meltwater runoff are distinct from those of rainfall runoff processes. Climate change affects the replenishment of rivers with meltwater in diverse ways. This chapter summarizes the various types of river recharge in the cryospheric area, analyzes the response characteristics of meltwater runoff to climate change on seasonal and interannual scales, and projects the runoff of different cryospheric rivers at the global and typical watershed scales under future changes.
