Chiral coordination frameworks constructed by a pyridine-based alanine derivative with semi-rigid and asymmetrical configuration: Structure, photocatalysis and selective luminescent sensing

摘要

Two novel chiral coordination frameworks, namely {[Cd(PycAla) 2 (H 2 O)]·4H 2 O} n (1) and [Co(PycAla) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n (2), have been successfully prepared via the chiral pyridine-4-carbonyl-(L-alanine) (HPycALa) ligand reacting with Cd(II) and Co(II) ions under hydrothermal conditions. Crystallographic analyses manifest that both frameworks are embedded by the multifarious helixes composed of PycAla anions and metal ions. Complex 1 exhibits a porous 3D framework with a 4-connected (6 4 .8 2 ) topology based on different left- and right-handed helical chains. Complex 2 shows a two-fold interpenetrated 2D network with a (4,4)-connected (4 4 .6 2 ) topology based on the anti-parallel arranged right-handed helical chains. It is worth noting that both frameworks display high photocatalytic activities in the degradation process of methylene blue (MB). The fluorescence spectrum of 1 exhibits strong maximum emission at 446 nm. In addition, 1 has K sv value of 1977 M −1 , which implies it can sense the Fe 3+ ion.
