Broadband Dual-Magnetic Resonant Huygens' Metalens Antenna

摘要

In this paper, a novel broadband Huygens' meta-atom based on dual magnetic resonances principle is proposed. The dual magnetic meta-atom consists of two offset metallic loops with series capacitors for miniaturization, each of which is positioned in two different layers of substrate. Due to the congener excitation mechanism, the meta-atom possesses a -3 dB transmission bandwidth of 30.3%. The whole 2π transmission phase coverage together with high transmittance (>0.85) could be easily fulfilled through parametric adjustment. Based on the proposed dual-magnetic meta-atom, a wideband metalens antenna in Ku band is designed and fed by a horn antenna as an example. The simulated results indicate that the metalens antenna achieves an aperture efficiency of 44.4% at 14.8 GHz and a 3-dB gain bandwidth of 15% (14-16.3 GHz). The proposed wideband high gain antenna has great potential in 5G communication system.
