A Multi-Resolution Propagation Algorithm and Pixel Grouping Storage Strategy for PatchMatch Stereo

摘要

As an effective means of measuring spatial distance, stereo matching has broad application prospects, especially in real-time application scenarios such as autonomous driving. Compared with the commonly used local matching method, which requires cost calculation for all disparities within the disparity range, the random search idea of the PatchMatch Stereo (PMS) can effectively reduce the amount of calculation and is more competent for matching under a large disparity range. This paper proposes a multi-resolution iterative propagation algorithm for PMS to further reduce its computational workload while improving the matching accuracy. In addition, in response to the multi-resolution image reading requirements of this algorithm, a pixel grouping storage strategy is proposed, which can reduce the bandwidth occupancy when reading low-resolution images from DDR, and can be flexibly configured according to the multi-resolution propagation strategy.
