A Low-Dropout Linear Regulator with High Power Supply Rejection

摘要

To suppress the input voltage noise, a low dropout linear regulator (LDO) with high power supply rejection ratio is designed. Through the theoretical analysis and calculation of the power supply rejection and stability of traditional LDO, a feedforward ripple cancellation technique is proposed in this paper. This is achieved by implementing a feedforward path which transfers the power supply noise equally to the gate of the power transistor. It can optimize the power supply rejection (PSR) of LDO. The design and simulation are completed using 0.18um BCD technology. According to the post-layout simulation results, it can be seen that the quiescent current is 445uA. With no load, the PSR of LDO is -102.6 dB and -90.3 dB at DC and 1 MHz, respectively. With a 100 mA load current, the PSR of LDO is -99.3dB and -96.1dB at DC and 1 MHz, respectively. The output integral noise from 10Hz to 100 KHz is 25.63uV RMS. The active area of the proposed LDO is 0.102mm2
