摘要
The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration holds significant strategic importance. A thorough analysis of the network structure characteristics and their effects on regional tourism economic development can support the achievement of its goal of“integration of industry and city” and provide decision-making references for the high-quality construction of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. What's more, systematically characterizing the spatial network features of urban resilience in the delta region and exploring its effects on tourism economy is of great practical value for enhancing the collective strength of urban resilience and expanding the network spillover effects of urban resilience on tourism economy. Focusing on 26 cities in the study area from 2006 to 2021, this study aims to incorporate its urban resilience spatial networks and tourism economics within a unified research framework. Methodologically, the study characterizes the features of the urban resilience spatial network from multiple perspectives and analyzes the direct effects, spatial spillover effects, and heterogeneous characteristics of individual network nodes on tourism economics based on the measurement of urban resilience and tourism economic levels in the delta. The main findings are as follows: (1) During the study period, the urban resilience level of this agglomeration remained relatively stable overall, exhibiting a distinct spatial pattern characterized by stronger performance in the eastern region and relatively low resilience in the northern and southern wings. The tourism sector witnessed an initial increase and then underwent a gradual decline. (2) The spatial network of urban resilience has continued to evolve towards greater complexity and density, shaping an evolutionary trajectory that transitioned from“localized point-to-point linkages” to“radiation patterns centered on Shanghai and Suzhou”, and ultimately to“a multi-nodal structure characterized by coordinated agglomeration and radiating influences”. In the network structure, key roles such as the “leaders”, “proximates”, and “intermediaries” are mainly concentrated in economically developed urban centers. (3) The spatial network structure characteristics of urban resilience have a significant positive impact on the tourism economy and exhibit spatial spillover effects, with indirect effects being more substantial than direct effects. Ignoring spatial effects would result in an underestimation of their impact. (4) The impact of spatial network structure on the tourism economy varies by region and city type. Cities with advanced economies and large populations show a more obvious positive effect of degree centrality on the tourism economy. In contrast, cities with less developed economies and smaller populations exhibit stronger positive effects from both closeness centrality and betweenness centrality on tourism development. The practical significance of this study lies in strengthening the role of spatial connections within urban agglomerations and policy support in promoting the sustainable development of regional tourism economies. Meanwhile, the findings enrich the research on urban resilience and the effects of tourism development, addressing academic concerns regarding the complex relationship between urban resilience, spatial connectivity networks, and tourism economies.
