摘要
Fibroblast growth factor 9 (FGF9) is a member of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family and belongs to a kind of autocrine or paracrine growth factors. In brain tissue, FGF9 is mainly expressed in hippocampus and cortex, which can promote cell proliferation and maintain cell survival. It was found that the expression disorder of FGF family appeared in many brain regions of depression patients, and FGF9 played a negative regulatory role in depression behavior. However, the molecular mechanism of depression behavior was not fully clear. This article reviews the functional roles of FGF9 and its family members in the etiology of depression, and analyzes the functional characteristics of its receptor (FGFR) signal in the central nervous system and the regulatory mechanism of FGF9 in depression behavior. Combined with the neurotrophic hypothesis of exercise anti-depression, the hypothesis that the FGF signal via FGFR/GSK3β/β-catenin pathway may mediate the motor intervention mechanism of depression is proposed. These will provide further information in the understanding of FGF9-mediated depression behavior and exercise anti-depression.
