摘要

The mega delta is vital in providing socio-economic resources and ecosystem services and has been widely concerned. Some river delta erosion has provoked land loss, damaged roads, houses and coastal projects, which brought huge social and economic losses. It has risen from a simple natural variation process to a hazard. Through summarizing the existing research results and understanding the evolution of the delta, this paper systematically summarized the hazard situation of the major delta in the world, and scientifically defined the causing factors of erosion hazard from natural and the human components. Understanding the development of the hazard monitoring and evaluation, the related topics, development context and main arguments of current research on erosion protection are explained in detail, from the dike engineering, ecological engineering and sediment supply engineering. Finally, the existing deficiencies and future research direction are analyzed and proposed. This study provides new ideas for future research on erosion hazards and coping strategies of mega deltas.
