Abstract

We reported a solar-blind single-photon Lidar at 266 nm based on the Geiger mode SiC-APD single-photon detector, which is only sensitive to the ultraviolet region. By utilizing the SiC-APD single-photon detector to detect the returned photons, the anti-background noise capability of the Lidar could be considerably improved and the solar background noise count was only 3.71 × 103 cps in the condition of facing the Sun. The extinction ratio could reach the magnitude of 10-15. The Lidar exhibits the striking anti-background noise capability to achieve all-day imaging, especially in some extreme conditions with high solar background noise, which greatly expands the application scenarios of single-photon Lidar.
