Abstract

Arynes, recognized as effective building blocks for the introduction of an aromatic ring into substrates, have been widely applied for the synthesis of functional material molecules and natural products. The incorporation of transition metals as a catalyst in aryne reactions could further broaden their reactivity and synthetic applications. This chapter focuses on transition-metal-catalyzed reactions of arynes reported to date with particular emphasis on the Pd-, Cu-, Ni-, Ag-catalyzed transformations. In addition, the presentation is organized according to different transition metals and corresponding reaction types.
