Abstract

We demonstrated tip-enhanced upconversion luminescence from a single Er3+/Yb3+:NaYF4 nanoparticle due to plasmonic effect. The gold-coated tip enabled improved reception and transmission of incident electromagnetic fields, which increased both absorption and emission processes.
