Abstract
SUMMARY The little known species from Darjeeling District of West Bengal, India, Strepsilejeunea papillata is reduced to a synonym of Cheilolejeunea subopaca (Mitt.) Mizut. Rich fertile material indicates that C. subopaca has the dioecious condition, pycnolejeuneoid gynoecial innovation, and the male bracteoles present throughout the androecia. The Neotropical Cheilolejeunea inflexa (Hampe ex Lehm.) Grolle is most similar to C. subopaca, but differs mainly in male bracteoles present only at the base of the androecium. Descriptions and illustrations of C. subopaca and C. inflexa are provided.
