Abstract

Fall accidents are common in elderly people and usually lead to severe injuries. It is necessary to research on fall detection tools. This paper focuses on a portable device which can automatically detect human fall accident equipped with an accelerometer and a gyroscope. The system architecture of this sensor data acquisition device is given based on AADL in OSATE environment. The flow latency of the terminal which impacts the system performance is discussed. After modeling, we implement this embedded device and acquire the sensor data as the features of fall detection algorithm. These experimental data will help us distinguish the fall accidents from other harmless human movements so that we are able to detect the danger at the first time.
