Abstract

The study area of this paper is eight cities' coastal zone in Yangtze River Delta. We took resources and environment carrying capacity, exiting development density and future development potential as spatial dimensions of three-dimensional cube, and got 27 units. According to results of second level indicators, we found the cube type of each coastal area and their main functional zone type. The results show: the coastal areas in Hangzhou, Zhoushan and Shanghai belong to stress developing area, Suzhou and Ningbo are optimization developing areas; however, the coastal area in Nantong, Jiaxing and Shaoxing are limited developing ones.
