Abstract
Among the domestic and foreign bulk of literatures on in-group differentiation of Christians, many people adopted a social psychological approach. Inspired by Pierre Bourdieu's classification theory, which focuses on praxis and dynamic processes, we consider the in-group differentiation of Christians as a classification practice. Based on the analysis of empirical findings of youth membership of a northern China urban Christian church, we come to the conclusion that, while its practical mode of in-group differentiation can be regarded as a dynamic process, members in turn "resist" and/or revise those externally-imposed classification rules and patterns with different manners. In a nutshell, the in-group differentiation of Christians itself is a highly complicated process, which also shows the complexity and multi-dimensions of Christians.
