Abstract
The Shore of the Syrtes is Gracq's masterpiece. In this novel, Gracqmakes use of the subtle image of "the Shore" to represent the feelings and ideas that the intends to convey. This study using French the matics as the basic approach of literary criticism, revolving around the image of "the Shore" in The Shore of the Syrtes, attempts to decode and interpret the time, the space and the characters in the Shore of the Syrtes in order to explore the "borderline" writing in he novel, and to gain in sights into Gracq's poetic world.
