Abstract

The microbe population in surface sediments of Lake Taihu was investigated in four seasons of the year 2004. The aerobic bacteria grew better in summer, the actinomyce grew better in spring and autumn, the distribution amount of organic phosphobacteria was greatest in summer, while there was no obvious temporal difference for inorganic phosphobacteria (P > 0.05). The distribution of anaerobic bacteria was higher slightly in spring and summer than that in autumn and winter. In spatial distribution, the distribution of aerobe bacteria was the greatest in Yuantouzhu, while it was the least in Gonghu. The distribution rules of anaerobe and aerobe were similar; while the rules were reverse for actinomyce. For organic phosphobacteria, it was Xiaodingwan > Meiyuan > Gonghu > Dongtaihu > Yuantouzhu; and for inorganic phosphobacteria, it was Dongtaihu > Meiyuan > Yuantouzhu > Xiaodingwan, Gonghu. Phosphine contents in Lake Taihu surface layer sediments were ranged from (1.71 ± 0.74)-(176.47 ± 0.98) ng/kg, with the greatest value in winter Dongtaihu site and the smallest value in spring Gonghu site. The correlation analysis between phosphine and microbe indicated the marked positive relation between phosphine and inorganic phosphobacteria; and the relation degree with anaerobic bacteria was the next, and without marked relation with organic phosphobacteria.
