Abstract

Chiral guanidinium chloride salts were synthesized from 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone and (S)-1-phenylethylamine. 14 ionic liquids with different anions were obtained by metathesis reactions of the chiral guanidinium chloride with MX and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, ESI-MS, [α]D20 and TGA methods. These guanidinium-based ionic liquids are potential catalysts to some reactions such as asymmetric Henry reaction or Michael addition.
