Abstract

The synthesis of symmetrical oligoarylenes using a reliable double Suzuki cross-coupling strategy is presented here. These novel compounds were identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, and HRMS. It was found that UV-vis absorptions were in the range of 295~348 nm and fluorescence emissions were detected between 387 and 395 nm in CHCl3. Substituent effects on absorption and fluorescence spectra are also discussed.
