Abstract

The electric properties of BaTiO3-(Bi1/ 2A1/2)TiO3 (A=Na, K) solid solution ceramics were studied as a lead-free PTCR (positive temperature coefficient of resistivity) thermistor material usable over 130°C. For determining the maximum switching temperature Ts, the phase diagrams of BaTiO 3-(Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO 3 (BT-BNT) and BaTiO3-(Bi1/2K1/ 2)TiO3 (BT-BKT) binary system were clarified. We obtained lead-free PTC materials with a low resistivity at room temperature (PRT) and high temperature coefficient (a) by sintering the ceramics in a low O 2 containing atmosphere.
