Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) technology is one of the hot issues in the field of computer vision. The research status of vision-based AR is systematically summarized in this paper. First, the present research situation of vision-based AR technologies is outlined; secondly, new technologies in this field are elaborated, including such technologies as 3D registration, camera calibration, tracking, illumination consistency of virtual and real objects and AR real space modeling. And then the problems existing in the research field are addressed, and the problems needing further research are discussed. At last, future research on AR is forecasted.
