Abstract

A cyanine-polymer coating was prepared by spin-coating process on pregrooved PC substrate, and its optical storage performance was studied. The reflectance and the absorptance of the coating at 660-830 nm are high enough for optical storage. With optimum recording condition, 58 dB signal to noise ratio (CNR) was obtained, under the conditions when the recording linear speed was 2 m/s, the recording power was 5.5 mW and the frequency was 60 kHz. The CNR, C (carrier signal level) have following relations with ΔR (change of reflectance of the coating before and after recording): C∝lgΔR, CNR∝lgΔR.
