Study on LBS driven mobile e-commerce: Key issues and technological architecture

Abstract

With the tremendous advances in mobile computing and communication capabilities, rapid proliferation of mobile devices, increasing powerful functions, and decreasing device costs, we are seeing a explosively growth in mobile e-commerce in various consumer and business markets. Although a large volume of literature is available on mobile e-commerce, a lot of aspects of this topic still remain to be made better and further studied. On the basis of analyzing advantages and disadvantages of traditional mobile e-commerce systems and applications, the paper put forward a novel concept of Location Based Services (LBS) driven mobile e-commerce system, and also resource limitations of mobile e-commerce clients (e.g., PDAs and PocketPCs), the related requirements and key issues are investigated accordingly. Then workflow and technological architecture of the LBS driven mobile e-commerce system are given and also main functions of the nodes in the framework are discussed at length. At last, system development environment and some implemented general functions are presented.
