Abstract

The top ontology of software processes was divided and described. Three central parts in the top ontology, the profile of tasks, the process model, and the implementation of the process and its improvement, were examined. The relevant key concepts of three central ontologies were defined formally. The basic relations among the concepts of the ontology for software processes were defined in terms of predicate logic to express and characterize the flexible and dynamic knowledge of software process models. The communications among different participants would be facilitated by these ontologies. The results of this study could provide unified base for constructing sharable, reusable, and sound meta-models of software processes.
