Abstract
Homogeneous thin films of phthalocyanine compound were prepared by vapor deposition method and were found to be writable with He-Ne laser beam on phthalocyanine (MPc) films. The threshold irradiation time for writing the recording spots is 250 ns with He-Ne laser of 7.8mW power at the wavelength of 632.8 nm. It is indicated that the reflectance of MPc films is about 20% and the absorptance falls in 550-900 nm. The relationship between the structure and optical storage properties was discussed. The laser power and irradiation time increase as the phthalocyanine molecule side chain increases.
