Abstract

At present, the main methods of microbial nitrogen removal include nitrification, denitrification, simultaneous nitrification and denitrification, anaerobic ammonia oxidation, etc. Among these microbial denitrification methods, anammox technology, as a new high—efficiency denitrification technology, not only has high denitrification efficiency, no secondary pollution, but also reduces the operating cost, which is of great significance to the treatment of wastewater with high ammonia nitrogen and the alleviation of eutrophication of water bodies. Comparing with the traditional nitrogen removal methods (nitrifi—cation/denitrification), anammox has better applicability and popularity because of its unique advantages. However, due to the characteristics of anammox bacteria, anammox technology also has many restrictive factors, such as long start—up time, low cell yield, high environmental sensitivity and high matrix inhibition. Therefore, it is still difficult for anammox technology to be widely promoted to practical applications. The difficulties and challenges in the application of anammox technology are also urgent to be solved. Therefore, the principle, technical status, research progress and main influencing factors were summarized, so as to provide theoretical and technical reference for the application and future development of anammox technology.
