Abstract

Cerium/ceria had been grafted onto the ordered porous zirconia materials by reacting Ce(NO3)3·6H2O and the calcined mesoporous zirconia under certain pH condition. The X-ray powder diffraction, TEM, nitrogen adsorption and UV-VIS spectroscopy were adopted for the characterization of the synthesized products. It is shown that cerium has been successfully incorporated into the framework of ZrO2 via Zr-O-Ce bonds. The dispersion of cerium into the pore channels and pore surface of ZrO2 has also been observed. Furthermore, both the specific surface area and the ordering of pore structure are retained.
