Abstract

Simplifying numerical rational surfaces is a basic problem in solid modeling, CAD and CAM. We present an algorithm to find a simpler approximate reparametrization of numerical rational surfaces which is very useful in original modeling design. Based on a better algebraic degree bound, approximate implicitization is proposed.
