Abstract

The shape-memory effect (SME) and related properties in Ce-Y-TZP ceramics were investigated. Specimens with different contents were fabricated and sintered at 1773 K for 6 hours. Results showed that among the ternary ceramics, 8Ce-0.50Y-TZP exhibited a superior SME indicating a complete shape recovery rate and a recoverable strain ∼1.2%. No microcrack was found to occur after shape recovery in the ceramic material.
