Abstract

Contiguous all-carbon quaternary centers represent an important structural motif that exist in many biological active natural products and secondary metabolites. This digest focuses on synthetic strategies and methods employed in recent total syntheses of natural products containing two or more contiguous all-carbon quaternary stereocenters. Based on the key reactions, we review 12 representative synthetic examples published recently, to showcase the power of these reactions in the construction of contiguous all-carbon quaternary centers and inspire future exploration.
