Abstract

Based on Gerstner-wave model and Perlin noise assumption, the basic shape of ocean waves was constructed. To get the grid points of wave crests, a method of searching wave crests was proposed. Then the inherent wave crest surface was replaced with an overturning wave crest surface created by the algorithm of building calculated wave crests ahead of schedule. So the special effect of large scale real-time overturning waves under different conditions can be achieved by simultaneously making use of other realistic rendering technology.
