Abstract

With the development of networked real-time embedded systems, the ability to guarantee traffic throughput rates and to decrease delay, energy, and loss rates, is particularly important for multimedia communications. These performance-based metrics are likely to vary from one application to another. In this paper, we proposed an integrated QoS metric that combines time, energy, and guaranteed probability together. We also propose an online adaptive algorithm to optimize the communication for multimedia mobile devices based on our QoS metric. The experimental results show that our approach achieves significant energy saving when compared with previous work.
