Abstract

We demonstrated the importance of basal planes and crystal edge for electron transfer within montmorillonite (MK10) and nontronite (NAu-2) by a facile dye-sensitized photoreduction method. It was found that not all structural Fe in the clay matrix was redox-active. The results are vital to the utilization of naturally abundant clays in environmental redox chemistry. This journal is
