Abstract
Europium-doped Lu2O3 nanocrystalline powders were prepared via a novel solution combustion route, with glycine as the fuel. The crystalline size and specific surface area of the combustion derived powders are strongly dependent on the glycine-to-nitrate ratio, which can control the combustion flame temperature. XRD, SEM, TEM and BET were used to characterize the phosphors and the photoluminescence was also investigated. Lu 2O3:Eu3+exhibits narrow-band red emission extending from 580-700nm with a sharp peak at 611nm, corresponding to 5D0 7F2 transition of the Eu 3+ ion.
