Abstract

Photon-number-resolving detection is of great importance in various applications, such as the demonstration of the fundamental quantum optics experiment, the practial quantum information process and even the low-light-level detection in biophotonics. Here, two different methods to realize photonnumber- resolving at infrared wavelengths will be discussed, such as InGaAs/InP avalanche photodiode (APD) in subsaturated mode and single-photon upconversion detection with silicon multipixel photon counter.
