Abstract

This chapter tried to explore the concept and its types first, China's urbanisation development is led by the government, and large urban projects are related to the government and are the main means of urbanisation. Moreover, in China's complex political and regulatory support system, the construction of large urban projects has become a “shortcut” for local officials, with local governments using large urban construction as a regional internal competitive tool, triggering growing competition between urban and local governments and promoting competitive urbanisation,; then, this book examines the development processes and characteristics of China’s MUPs to explain the perspective of development, evolution, and internal logic in the Chinese context, the developmental power and influencing factors of China’s MUPs and financial dependence on the land and debt risk of the MUPs is concluded.
