Abstract

The coupling relationship between structure field and property parameters field in geological space is not considered in current technology of 3D geological modeling, and this situation limits the reliability and the practicality of the computer modeling. Multifield coupled modeling in engineering geological space has become a bottleneck that restricts the development and application of 3D geological modeling. Based on the review of the present situation and development trends in 3D geological modeling, the general research framework and the primary working procedure for multifield coupled modeling in engineering geological space are introduced; and solving means of related scientific problems on multifield coupled modeling are given. The visualization effect of the multifield coupled model is realized inside the 3D geological modeling and visualization system; and the practical effect of those methods is shown in a case study. This research lays a foundation to build the theory and method system for multifield coupled modeling of geological bodies; and also is helpful to promote the deepening application of digital modeling and analytic techniques for engineering geology.
