Method for post evaluation of urban river regulation and case study

Abstract

The objective and method for post evaluation of urban river regulation are studied. The method consists of field ecological sampling, in-situ investigation, questionnaire investigation and contingent valuation. The regulation of Zhangjiabang River, Pudong, Shanghai is evaluated as a case study for demonstration. The ecological benefit and social economic benefit of this regulation project are evaluated. The result shows that not only the water quality, aquatic community, riverine vegetation and microclimate are improved, but also the social and economic benefits are acquired. The ecosystem service value of the regulated river is greatly elevated.
