Abstract
The cubic nano-structured HfO 2-Sc 2O 3:Eu 3+ were successfully synthesized via a combustion process. Phase evolution of the synthesized powders was determined by X-ray diffraction measurements. Pure cubic phase of HfO 2-Sc 2O 3 solid solution was obtained after being calcined at 800 °C for 2 h.The particle size and morphology were analyzed by TEM. The luminescence properties werealso investigated. Photoluminescence spectra of Eu 3+ doped HfO 2-Sc 2O 3 nano-powders showed red emission at 613 nm which corresponds to the 5D 0- 7F 2 transition of Eu 3+ ion.
