Abstract

The recently observed positive and negative parity bands in Br73 are investigated by the reflection-asymmetric triaxial particle rotor model. The experimental energy spectra as well as the electric transition probabilities B(E1), B(E2), and the ratio B(E1)/B(E2) are well reproduced by the theoretical calculations. It is found that the enhanced interband E1 transitions between the opposite-parity bands, a crucial evidence for octupole correlations, are mainly contributed by the intrinsic single-particle electric dipole matrix elements.
