Abstract
Heavy oil crackability and hydrogen transfer reaction activity of FCC catalysts have been improved at same time while maintaining the coke selectivity by incorporation of zeolites containing alkaline earth cations. Work was emphasized on the effects of different alkaline earth cations and different types of zeolites with respect to the acidity of catalysts. Catalysts containing Mg- or Ca-zeolites show stronger heavy oil crack ability and higher hydrogen transfer reaction activity at the same coke selectivity than those not containing Mg- or Ca-zeolites, which can be related to the increase of total amount of acid sites and the ratio of Bronsted acid to Lewis acid, especially the decrease of strong acid sites and the increase of medium acid sites.
