Imaging rydberg states of atoms and molecules with a weak DC field

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

High-lying Rydberg atoms and molecules exhibit unusually long-range interactions, and the strongly enhanced interaction between Rydberg particles makes them unique for a variety of applications, ranging from quantum optics to chemistry [1]. Recent studies revealed that such high-lying Rydberg particles can be formed through electron trapping in strong field interaction with atoms and molecules [2, 3, 4]. In this submission, we report on imaging of high-lying Rydberg electron wave packets populated in such interactions.
