Abstract

Recent progress in research on structural ceramics in China is briefly reviewed, focusing on four subjects: phase relationships in M-Si-Al-O-N and related systems; the processing of ceramics, including preparation, agglomeration and sintering of nanometer-sized powders; toughening mechanisms for matrix composites of ceramics; and the high-temperature mechanical behavior of ceramics such as creep, fatigue and superplasticity.
