Abstract
Water quality monitoring is not only the basis for effective comprehensive management of water environment and control of water pollution, but also an important basis for risk assessment of algal blooms and construction of ecological safety. In this study, we used GF5-Advanced Hyperspectral Imager (AHSI) products to monitor the water quality of East Dongting Lake in winter. Through analyzing the obtained spectral reflectance, we calibrated our empirical models for retrieving the water quality parameters including chlorophyll a (Chl-a) concentration, total suspended matter (TSM) concentration and transparency (Secchi disk depth: SDD). This study preliminarily confirmed the potential of GF5-AHSI images in retrieving water quality parameters and could provide some useful information for the local environmental protection departments and Dongting Lake researchers.
